Shaun Marsh Retires From Professional Cricket As Melbourne Renegades' Fixture Marks His Last Game

Australian cricketer Shaun Marsh has announced his retirement from professional cricket, with the Melbourne Renegades‘ upcoming fixture against Sydney Thunder in the Big Bash League being his final assignment. This news comes shortly after former Australian captain Aaron Finch announced his retirement from the sport.

Marsh expressed his gratitude towards the Renegades and mentioned the friendships he had made during his five years with the team. He also thanked the coaches, staff, and everyone behind the scenes for their support throughout his career.

Despite starting the season late due to an injury, Marsh performed well on the field, accumulating 181 runs in five outings at an average of 45.25 and a strike rate of 138.16. He also scored three half-centuries.

Prior to joining the Renegades in the 2019-20 season, Marsh had a successful stint with the Perth Scorchers from 2011 to 2019. He expressed his appreciation for his time with the Scorchers, particularly their back-to-back title wins which he described as the most enjoyable moments of his career.

Marsh had a distinguished career representing Australia in various formats, scoring over 5,200 runs and hitting 13 centuries. His last appearance for the national team was against Sri Lanka at The Oval during the 2019 ODI World Cup.
