Shedeur Sanders’ NFL Draft Fall Unravels Unusual Behavior Stories

NEW YORK, NY — Shedeur Sanders, the former Colorado quarterback, faced scrutiny leading up to the NFL Draft after being selected in the fifth round by the Cleveland Browns. Despite entering the draft as a highly regarded prospect, Sanders slid to the 144th pick amidst emerging stories about his character and conduct. College football analyst Ross Tucker revealed insights during an interview on ‘The Dan Patrick Show.’
Tucker recounted his perplexing experience with Sanders, who skipped a planned production meeting with him before a game against Colorado State. After initially rescheduling due to injury treatment, Sanders was later spotted sitting in the back of a pickup truck outside the hotel.
“We weren’t really given a reason. I walk out of the hotel, and Shedeur is just sitting in the back of the pickup truck. It just made me wonder,” Tucker said. NFL personnel asked him about Sanders’ character after this incident, and Tucker felt unable to answer due to lack of contact with the player.
Sanders also reportedly failed to impress during formal interviews with several teams. One NFL assistant coach described his interview as “the worst formal interview I’ve ever been in my life,” criticizing Sanders for his attitude and performance on the field. Another executive stated that Sanders exhibited a need to dictate the agenda of interviews, which left a negative impression.
Tucker indicated that occurrences like skipping meetings raised concerns among NFL teams about Sanders’ professionalism. “Especially at that position, I think it makes them very nervous that already in college he was getting out of things that you’re supposed to be doing,” Tucker noted.
Despite being projected as a high pick, his perceived attitude and interview performances contributed to his unexpected fall in the draft. Sanders now faces significant competition in the Browns’ quarterback room, which includes established players such as Deshaun Watson and Joe Flacco.
The narrative around Sanders continues to unfold as more accounts surface, leading to questions about how his off-field behavior influenced his standing with NFL teams.
