Shohei Ohtani Home Run Dodgers Diamondbacks

PHOENIX, Arizona — Shohei Ohtani hit a three-run homer in the ninth inning, leading the Los Angeles Dodgers to a thrilling 14-11 comeback victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks on Friday night at Chase Field.

The Dodgers entered the final frame down 11-8 after squandering an early five-run lead, but turned the game around with a six-run ninth inning. Andy Pages and Kiké Hernández ignited the rally with back-to-back run-scoring doubles. Max Muncy then contributed a run-scoring single that tied the game at 11.

Ohtani, who had doubled twice earlier in the game, faced Diamondbacks pitcher Ryan Thompson with two outs and a one-ball, two-strike count. He responded by launching his 12th home run of the season toward the pool deck in right field, giving the Dodgers a 14-11 advantage. Ohtani finished the night with four RBIs.

The Dodgers had previously taken control of the game early, building an 8-3 lead through three innings against Eduardo Rodriguez. However, the Diamondbacks clawed back, with Lourdes Gurriel Jr. tying things up with a grand slam in the fifth. Ketel Marte and Randal Grichuk followed with solo home runs in the eighth off Alex Vesia, pushing the Diamondbacks ahead.

Pages ended the evening with three RBIs, while Hernández extended the Dodgers’ home run streak to 13 games with a solo shot in the second inning. Marte starred for the Diamondbacks with two home runs of his own.

The win marked a significant milestone for the Dodgers, with Tanner Scott closing the game with a perfect ninth inning.

Looking ahead, the Dodgers will send right-handed pitcher Dusty May to the mound against Diamondbacks right-hander Corbin Burnes on Saturday in the third game of the series.
