EUGENE, Ore. – CJ Singleton secured All-American honors in the 3,000m steeplechase while Jadin O’Brien and Alaina Brady began their heptathlon competition at the 2025 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Friday.

O’Brien and Brady both had strong starts in the heptathlon. O’Brien recorded the fastest 100m hurdle time among 24 competitors, finishing in 13.33 seconds to earn 1075 points. Brady closely followed with a season-best time of 13.41 seconds, garnering 1063 points.

Following the hurdles, O’Brien jumped 1.69m in the high jump, her season’s best, earning 842 points. Brady matched her own career-high with a 1.66m jump, scoring 806 points.

In the shot put, O’Brien led with a distance of 14.44m for an additional 823 points. Brady had a personal-best throw of 13.89m, placing third and adding 787 points to her tally.

Amid the heptathlon events, Singleton participated in the 3,000m steeplechase final. He achieved a season-best time of 8:28.93, finishing ninth and receiving Second Team All-American honors.

As the heptathlon continued into the evening, O’Brien ran the 200m in 24.11 seconds, earning 970 points. Brady completed the event with a time of 25.33 seconds for 857 points. After four events, O’Brien led the heptathlon with 3710 points, while Brady stood sixth with 3513 points.

The second day of the competition is set to begin Saturday at 3:30 pm PDT (6:30 pm EDT) with the long jump. The javelin will follow at 4:45 pm PDT (7:45 pm EDT), and the heptathlon will conclude with the 800m run at 7:43 pm PDT (10:43 pm EDT).
