Skylar Diggins Smith Single Leg Squats Training

MIAMI, Fla. — Seattle Storm star Skylar Diggins-Smith is gearing up for the inaugural season of the Unrivaled 3×3 basketball league, showcasing her rigorous training regimen on social media. On Wednesday, Diggins-Smith reshared a video from the Lunar Owls Basketball Club’s Instagram story, where she performed weighted single-leg squats with the caption, “Ultimate leg strength.”

Diggins-Smith, a six-time WNBA All-Star, will represent the Lunar Owls alongside teammates Napheesa Collier, Courtney Williams, Allisha Gray, Cameron Brink, and Shakira Austin. The team is coached by NBA skills trainer DJ Sackmann. The league, which features 36 players across six teams, tips off Friday in Miami with the Lunar Owls facing the Mist BC.

In a recent interview, Diggins-Smith expressed enthusiasm for the league, emphasizing its potential to elevate her game. “The quality of competition that’s going to be there, I’m a firm believer that iron sharpens iron,” she said. “The talent that’s been collected for the inaugural season already, that’s exciting. I look forward to that competition, and that will prepare me, ultimately, for how I want to be in the WNBA.”

Diggins-Smith’s 2024 WNBA season saw her average 15.1 points, 6.4 assists, and 1.7 steals per game, helping the Seattle Storm secure the fifth seed before their first-round playoff exit. Her training for Unrivaled highlights her commitment to maintaining peak physical condition.

The Lunar Owls’ jerseys, revealed last week, also drew praise from Diggins-Smith. Commenting on Unrivaled’s Instagram post, she wrote, “They cute!” The team’s uniforms feature two designs: one primarily white with purple accents and another black with golden branding and purple stripes.

As the league prepares for its debut, Diggins-Smith’s dedication and excitement underscore the high stakes and competitive spirit of Unrivaled. Fans eagerly await the action, set to unfold on a condensed full court with a fast-paced 3×3 format.
