Smriti Mandhana, Renuka Singh Lead Rcb To Top Of Points Table In Women's Premier League

Smriti Mandhana and Renuka Singh showcased stellar performances as Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) emerged victorious against Gujarat Giants in the Women's Premier League, propelling RCB to the top of the points table. The match took place at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, where RCB triumphed over Beth Mooney-led Giants by 8 wickets.

Opting to field first, RCB’s bowlers, led by Renuka Singh, managed to restrict the Giants to 107 for 7. Despite a slow powerplay start for the Giants, Renuka’s exceptional spell, alongside contributions from Sophie Molineux and Georgia Wareham, kept the pressure on the opposition.

Renuka Singh made significant breakthroughs by dismissing Giants’ skipper Beth Mooney and the talented Phoebe Litchfield, while Sophie Molineux made crucial inroads with a three-wicket haul. Meanwhile, Dayalan Hemalatha’s unbeaten 31 brought some stability to the Giants’ innings.

In response, Smriti Mandhana’s brisk 43 off 27 balls set the tone for RCB’s chase. Supported by Sabbhineni Meghana‘s unbeaten 36 and a quick-fire 23 not out by Ellyse Perry, RCB comfortably chased down the target in just 13 overs.

With this victory, RCB now leads the points table in the Women’s Premier League, dethroning defending champions Mumbai Indians. The all-round performance by players like Shreyanka Patil, Ash Gardner, and Veda Krishnamurthy added value to the game, showcasing RCB’s dominance in the league.
