Smriti Mandhana Shines With Record Breaking Performance In India South Africa Odi

India vice-captain Smriti Mandhana showcased a stellar performance in the opening ODI against South Africa, breaking records and milestones at the historic M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

Mandhana’s incredible knock saw her crossing multiple milestones, including becoming only the second Indian woman after Mithali Raj to surpass the 7000-run mark across all formats.

Displaying immense grit, Mandhana battled through a top-order collapse to secure her sixth ODI century, setting a new record for the highest ODI score by an Indian woman at home.

Her innings of 117 off 121 deliveries, peppered with 12 boundaries and a six, surpassed Mithali Raj’s previous record of 109 against West Indies back in 2011.

Additionally, the left-hander now stands as the second-highest ODI century-maker among Indian women, with six centuries to her name, only one short of leveling with the legendary Mithali Raj.

India finished their innings at 265 for eight in 50 overs, with Pooja Vastrakar‘s unbeaten 31 providing valuable support in achieving a competitive total against the Proteas.

This monumental performance by Mandhana not only solidifies her stature in Indian cricket but also highlights her potential to reach greater heights in the sport.
