Sorana Cîrstea Triumphs in Dubai Amid Career Reflections

After a challenging performance earlier at the Transylvania Open, Cîrstea returned to Dubai, having relocated there a few years ago. “At Dubai, I’m home because I live here. It’s very pleasant to stay home and play. My family and friends are here, and I’m very grateful for this time,” Cîrstea said after her match.

Despite her recent triumph, Cîrstea is candid about her career trajectory. “Simona’s retirement is overwhelming, but I believe it’s important to know when to step back. She did so at an appropriate time,” Cîrstea remarked, referencing the retirement of fellow Romanian tennis star Simona Halep. “This year may be my last season. If I don’t achieve what I aim for — to reach the top 30 or 20 — it will likely be my final year. However, I feel young and healthy at the moment,” she added.

As she navigates the later stages of her career, Cîrstea’s future will heavily depend on her performance in the upcoming matches. For now, the success in Dubai has instilled confidence in her abilities and renewed her commitment to pursuing her goals on the WTA circuit.
