Spain National Team Omits FC Barcelona’s Pau Cubarsi for UEFA Nations League Match Against Denmark
The Real Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) has announced the squad for Spain’s upcoming match against Denmark in the UEFA Nations League, with a notable exclusion. Pau Cubarsi, a defender from FC Barcelona, who was called up as a substitute for the injured Pau Torres, will not be available for the game scheduled for Friday at Parken Stadion in Denmark.
This decision has sparked debate, as Cubarsi was included in the initial call-up but will not participate in the match. The move is interpreted as a protective measure by the RFEF, considering Cubarsi is still recovering from a serious injury sustained during a UEFA Champions League match against Red Star Belgrade. The injury required nine stitches on his face, and he has been playing with a protective mask.
The absence of Cubarsi means other defenders such as Aitor Paredes, Dani Vivian, Óscar Mingueza, and Aymeric Laporte will be relied upon for the match. Meanwhile, other FC Barcelona players like Marc Casadó, who received his first call-up to the Spanish national team, will wear the number 15, Pedri González will wear number 20, and Dani Olmo will wear his usual number 10.
This match is part of the fifth matchday of the UEFA Nations League, and the RFEF has released the official shirt numbers for the Spanish team ahead of the game.
