Jordan Henderson, the former Liverpool captain currently with Ajax, has become the subject of transfer speculations, with bookmakers highlighting a potential move back to the United Kingdom. The England international has played sparingly since joining the Dutch club, making only three league appearances this season. Reports suggest that Henderson is considering a return to British football during the winter transfer window.

According to TalkSPORT, there are numerous rumored destinations for Henderson, including a possible return to Rangers, although the club would face challenges in matching his £85,000 per week salary. Sunderland, Henderson’s boyhood club, is also a strong candidate, with odds suggesting it would be a “homecoming” to the Stadium of Light. His former teammate, Darren Bent, expressed his support for such a move, stating, “I just feel going back to Sunderland makes sense. That’s his club, that’s where he started.”

Despite his established reputation and leadership qualities, Henderson’s time at Ajax has been less impactful than expected. The veteran midfielder, who had a celebrated stint at Liverpool winning multiple major trophies, is exploring his options amid reports he could leave before his contract expires in 2026.

Henderson’s potential return to Sunderland, who currently lead the Championship, might strengthen their bid for promotion to the Premier League. As of now, Henderson has 12 appearances for Ajax, but only three starts since securing a spot in the Europa League competition.

Elsewhere in the football world, Todd Cantwell has been vocal about his contentment at Blackburn Rovers after leaving Rangers. Cantwell, who joined on deadline day, spoke positively about his experience, stating, “It’s very important to feel loved… Whenever you have the backing from a fan base, it gives you another level of confidence.”

Scott Wright, another former Rangers player, has also shared insights into his new role at Birmingham City. Following the team’s victory over Shrewsbury Town in the EFL Trophy, Wright emphasized the team’s commitment to every game, stating, “There’s no such thing for us at a club like this as a throwaway game.”

The ongoing transfer rumors around Henderson continue to captivate many football fans, particularly with Sunderland’s advancement in the Championship adding an interesting dynamic to his potential move.
