Norwich City is on the verge of parting ways with head coach David Wagner after their failure to advance in the play-offs, conceding a 4-0 loss to Leeds United. The decision is expected to be officially announced on Friday, following the team’s disappointing exit from the Championship’s play-off stages.

The club has reportedly been in talks with potential candidates like Arsenal assistant Carlos Cuesta and former Nottingham Forest manager Steve Cooper for a more progressive coaching approach. However, Cooper has allegedly turned down the offer for the vacant position, leaving Norwich to continue their search for a new head coach at Carrow Road.

David Wagner’s tenure at Norwich City seems to be coming to an end after 75 matches in charge, where he managed 31 wins, 17 draws, and 27 defeats. The German coach was brought in to replace Dean Smith in January 2023 but is now facing an imminent departure with a win percentage of 41%. The decision to let go of Wagner points towards an upcoming period of change under sporting director Ben Knapper.

Reflecting on the team’s recent performance, Wagner acknowledged the need for conversations about the direction of the club in the upcoming season. The disappointing results against Leeds United in the play-offs highlighted the team’s shortcomings, leading to the potential decision to part ways with Wagner.
