Sri Lanka Women Bowl First Against India in ODI Tri-Series

Colombo, Sri Lanka – Sri Lanka Women have elected to bowl first after winning the toss against India Women during the fourth match of the Women’s ODI Tri-Series at R Premadasa Stadium on May 4, 2025.
The Sri Lankan team made the decision based on the pitch conditions at Khettarama, which are expected to favor bowlers early in the game. Sri Lanka captain Chamari Athapaththu stated they have been keen to bowl first, a strategy they also considered in their previous match against South Africa.
India captain Harmanpreet Kaur echoed that her team had also aimed to bowl initially, but they stuck with an unchanged lineup after their two victories in the series. The Indian team has won both matches so far, defeating Sri Lanka and South Africa.
Sri Lanka, on the other hand, will maintain the XI that defeated South Africa by five wickets in their last outing. Their bowling attack includes experienced left-arm spinners Inoka Ranaweera and Sugandika Kumari, along with offspinner Dewmi Vihanga, who is appearing in her second ODI.
Weather forecasts predict possible rain throughout the day in Colombo, but conditions were mostly dry, albeit cloudy, during the toss.
India has been strong in the series, with Pratika Rawal leading their batting with 128 runs, including two half-centuries. On the bowling front, Sneh Rana has been exceptional, taking eight wickets total across the matches played. Sri Lanka’s Harshitha Samarawickrama has also impressed, scoring 91 runs so far.
As the match is set to begin at 10:00 AM IST, conditions are expected to be good for batting, although bowlers may get assistance due to overcast skies. Frequent rain breaks could affect play, so fans are advised to keep an eye on the weather.
