Birmingham Stallions Vs San Antonio Brahmas

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham Stallions delivered a strong defensive performance in their 26-3 victory over the San Antonio Brahmas on Sunday.

In a clash that defined the Week 6 matchups in the UFL, Birmingham’s defense held San Antonio to just 24 rushing yards on 13 attempts, marking a significant achievement in what has become the league’s stingiest defense. The Stallions allowed only five touchdowns in six games.

Stallions quarterback Case Cookus, in his second start, went 16-of-23 for 166 yards, tossing two touchdowns. Rookie quarterback Andrew Peasley, witnessing his first action, completed 5-of-8 passes for 79 yards before leaving the game with an injury.

San Antonio’s quarterback Kevin Hogan had an impressive start, completing a 56-yard pass to wide receiver Justin Smith on his first snap. However, the Brahmas struggled afterward, managing only 77 yards on their remaining 40 offensive plays.

The Stallions got on the scoreboard first with a touchdown run by Ricky Person from four yards out, concluding a drive spurred by a 35-yard punt return from Davion Davis. As the first half drew to a close, Cookus connected with Amari Rodgers on a 43-yard touchdown pass, extending the lead to 12-0.

In the third quarter, Harrison Mevis kicked field goals from 49 and 50 yards, solidifying the Stallions’ 26-point score. The victory improved Birmingham’s record to 4-2, moving them into a tie for first place in the USFL Conference alongside the Michigan Panthers.

Head coach Skip Holtz praised the defensive effort of his team, emphasizing their ability to control the game and allowing the offense to play more conservatively. “What a defensive performance,” Holtz said.

The Stallions next face the Houston Roughnecks at 11 a.m. CDT Sunday at Protective Stadium.
