Stanford’s Raynaud Named to Naismith Trophy Midseason Team

ATLANTA – Stanford University’s senior basketball player, Raynaud, has earned national recognition by being named to the Jersey Mike’s Naismith Trophy Men’s College Player of the Year Midseason Team. This accolade follows his recent inclusion in the Wooden Award Late Midseason Top-20, as well as nominations for the Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Center of the Year top-10 and the Oscar Robertson Trophy watchlist.
Raynaud currently leads the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) with an impressive average of 19.9 points per game and 11.5 rebounds per game. As of February 12, he ranks third in the nation for rebounds and 13th in scoring. Notably, Stanford has never had a player finish higher than third on the national rebounding leaderboard, with Curtis Borchardt holding the previous top rank during the 2001-02 season.
Throughout the season, Raynaud has showcased exceptional performance, leading the country with 20 double-doubles. This statistic places him three double-doubles ahead of the next best across the nation and six ahead of players from other power conferences. He is currently tied with Adam Keefe for Stanford’s single-season double-double record, a mark set during the 1991-92 season. Over the past five seasons, only six power conference players have achieved 20 double-doubles, including prominent names such as Zach Edey from Purdue and Armando Bacot from North Carolina.
Achieving both the scoring and rebounding titles in the ACC has been a rare feat, accomplished only 13 times in the conference’s history. Among those past achievers, nine ultimately received the ACC Player of the Year award. Since the 1950s, only twice has a player led in both categories and not won the top award—the last five players to do so have all been honored with the ACC’s prestigious title.
Raynaud’s impressive performances have not gone unnoticed, earning him three ACC Player of the Week awards this season and recognition as a USBWA National Player of the Week on November 19. The Atlanta Tipoff Club manages the Naismith Awards, honoring the highest achievements in college and high school basketball. Named after Dr. James Naismith, the awards acknowledge the most outstanding athletes and coaches in the sport.
