NEW YORK, June 17, 2025 – The U.S. Tennis Association (USTA) has announced a star-studded lineup for the reimagined Mixed Doubles Championship, scheduled for August 19-20 at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center. This year’s format aims to attract top players by moving the event to the week before the main singles draw, allowing singles stars to participate.

Tournament Director Stacey Allaster expressed excitement about the new competition format, stating, “The Mixed Doubles Championship is going to be one of the main attractions of the U.S. Open this year. It’s going to be fast-paced, competitive, and fun.” This year, a total of 16 teams will compete in a smaller field, which includes both direct entrants based on rankings and wild-card selections.

The new scoring system will feature best-of-three-set matches to four games, no-ad scoring, tiebreaks at 4-4, and a 10-point tiebreak instead of a third set. The winning team will receive a significant prize of $1 million. USTA CEO Lew Sherr noted that this format showcases the best players in the world competing together, creating an exciting opportunity for both fans and athletes.

World-renowned players like Emma Raducanu and Carlos Alcaraz are among the anticipated participants. Raducanu, who had a less favorable experience in her previous mixed doubles attempt at Wimbledon, is looking forward to her return. “I’m definitely looking forward to the chance to compete for a Grand Slam title in the future,” she said.

Other teams announced include Olympic medalist Zheng Qinwen paired with Jack Draper, men’s world number one Jannik Sinner with Emma Navarro, and women’s world number one Aryna Sabalenka teamed with Grigor Dimitrov. The full entry list will be finalized by July 28, with hopes that this new format will engage more fans and increase the event’s visibility.

All matches will take place in Arthur Ashe Stadium or Louis Armstrong Stadium, airing live on ESPN2 and streaming on ESPN+. As the date approaches, excitement grows for what promises to be a groundbreaking mixed doubles championship.
