Pittsburgh Steelers Nfl Game Dublin Croke Park

DUBLIN, Ireland – The Pittsburgh Steelers will play their first regular season NFL game in Dublin on Sunday, September 28, against the Minnesota Vikings at Croke Park. The kickoff is set for 9:30 a.m. Eastern Time, which is 2:30 p.m. local time in Ireland. The game is a significant milestone in the NFL’s international outreach initiatives.

Steelers President Art Rooney II expressed excitement about the occasion, noting the team’s Irish heritage. ‘The opportunity for the Pittsburgh Steelers to play in Ireland is truly special,’ said Rooney. ‘We are thrilled to be part of this historic event and to represent Pittsburgh on a global stage.’

The late Dan Rooney, former chairman of the Steelers, had deep ties to Ireland, having served as the U.S. Ambassador to Ireland from 2009 to 2012. His family’s roots play a vital role in the significance of the game. Coach Mike Tomlin shared his enthusiasm, stating, ‘It is an honor and privilege to represent the game of American football internationally.’

Croke Park, known for hosting large crowds, will accommodate about 76,000 fans for this game, with modifications made to the stadium for corporate and media needs. The State has invested approximately €10 million to bring the game to Dublin, with estimated economic benefits of around €65 million.

Previously, the Steelers played in a preseason game at Croke Park against the Chicago Bears in 1997, marking that encounter as the only NFL game held in Ireland until now. Fans interested in attending can register for ticket information, which will go on sale this summer.

Following this event, the Vikings will also compete in London the following week against the Cleveland Browns. The game represents an expanding effort by the NFL to reach international audiences, with previous seasons featuring games in locations such as London and Mexico City.
