Steelers Jaylen Warren Contract Negotiations

Pittsburgh, PA — The Pittsburgh Steelers have made several roster moves ahead of the 2025 season by tendering a contract offer to restricted free agent running back Jaylen Warren, signing center Ryan McCollum to a one-year deal, and releasing defensive tackle Larry Ogunjobi.

The tender offered to Warren grants the Steelers the right to match any offer sheet he may sign with another team, keeping their options open as he seeks a new contract for the upcoming season. Warren can also opt to sign the Steelers’ tender or negotiate a long-term deal with the franchise.

Since joining the Steelers as an undrafted free agent post-2022 NFL Draft, Warren has been a consistent contributor. Over three seasons, he has played in 48 games, accumulating 1,674 rushing yards on 346 carries, which averages out to 4.8 yards per attempt, along with six rushing touchdowns. In the 2024 season, Warren completed 15 games, recording 511 rushing yards on 120 carries and one touchdown.

Warren’s breakout year came in 2023 when he set personal bests, rushing for 784 yards on 149 carries, with a 5.3-yard average and four rushing touchdowns. He also achieved career highs with 61 receptions for 370 yards, averaging 6.1 yards per reception. His rookie year showcased his versatility as he served as a backup to Najee Harris, totaling 379 rushing yards and one touchdown.

“Jaylen has proven to be a reliable asset in our backfield, and we are looking forward to his continued development with us,” said Steelers General Manager Omar Khan.

McCollum, who was signed following two seasons on the practice squad, is entering his first full year on the active roster after appearing in 17 games, including two starts last season when injuries impacted the offensive line. The Texas A&M product originally began his NFL career with the Houston Texans as an undrafted free agent in 2021 before a short stint with the Detroit Lions.

“Ryan has shown great potential and is ready to take on more responsibilities as we build our offensive line,” added Khan.

Ogunjobi, a veteran defensive tackle, has played a significant role in the Steelers’ defense during his three-season tenure with the team. Over 48 games, he recorded 132 tackles, including 62 solo stops, along with 26 quarterback hits and six sacks. Having started in 45 of those games, Ogunjobi’s departure marks the end of an era for the Steelers.

He was previously recognized for his community involvement and was nominated for the 2024 Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award. “Larry has been a great ambassador for our team both on and off the field, and we appreciate all he has done for the Steelers,” said Khan.
