Dk Metcalf Catches Football Seahawks Steelers

SEATTLE — The Pittsburgh Steelers have acquired star wide receiver DK Metcalf from the Seattle Seahawks in a significant trade that took place Sunday night, as reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter. The Steelers traded a 2025 second-round draft pick and agreed to a five-year, $150 million contract extension with Metcalf, marking a pivotal move to enhance their roster ahead of the upcoming season.

Metcalf, 27, had requested a trade on March 5 after expressing concerns about his future with the Seahawks. The signing of a major contract places Metcalf among the highest-paid wide receivers in the league, with an annual value of $30 million. Prior to this move, the most the Steelers had committed to an external free agent was linebacker T.J. Watt’s three-year contract worth $41 million.

This trade for Metcalf comes just days after Seattle dealt quarterback Geno Smith to the Las Vegas Raiders, leading to a major restructuring of their roster. Following these transactions, the Seahawks now possess five picks within the first three rounds of the 2025 draft, providing them with opportunities for rebuilding.

In the previous season, Metcalf demonstrated solid performance with 66 receptions for 992 yards and five touchdowns over 15 games. His average of 15.0 yards per reception speaks to his big-play capability, a much-needed asset for the Steelers’ receiving corps. With Metcalf now on board, Pittsburgh aims to bolster its offense significantly.

General Manager Omar Khan expressed excitement over securing Metcalf, highlighting the importance of adding a dynamic receiver to a team that has struggled with depth in the past. ‘Adding DK to our roster brings immediate impact and elevates our offensive capabilities,’ Khan stated.

Meanwhile, Metcalf’s former teammate at Seattle, quarterback Russell Wilson, had thrived during their time together which solidified Metcalf’s status as a premier receiver since being drafted in 2019. During his career, Metcalf has amassed 6,324 yards and 48 touchdowns, establishing himself as a formidable offensive weapon.

As the Steelers prepare for the 2025 season, the focus now shifts to addressing their quarterback situation, as both current quarterbacks are set to hit free agency. With Fields reportedly looking to enter the market, the Steelers must move quickly to secure a leader to maximize the potential of their revamped offense.
