Steelers Trio Earns AP All-Pro Honors for 2024 Season
Three Pittsburgh Steelers players were recognized for their standout performances in the 2024 NFL season, earning Associated Press All-Pro honors. Kicker Chris Boswell and defensive tackle Cameron Heyward were named to the First-Team, while linebacker T.J. Watt secured a spot on the Second-Team.
Boswell, a first-time All-Pro selection, had a historic season, leading the NFL with 41 field goals made and 158 points scored. His 93.2% field goal accuracy was the highest among kickers with at least 35 attempts. Boswell also set a Steelers franchise record for most points by a kicker and became the first player in team history to make three 50-plus-yard field goals in a single game twice.
“Chris Boswell has been everything we need him to be,” said Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin. “He’s performing at an extremely high level, and we’re comfortable calling on him in any situation.” Boswell’s consistency earned him AFC Special Teams Player of the Week honors twice and AFC Special Teams Player of the Month for September and October.
Heyward, a veteran defensive tackle, earned his fifth All-Pro selection and fourth First-Team nod. At 35 years old, Heyward started all 17 games, recording 71 tackles, eight sacks, and 11 passes defensed. He ranked among the top three defensive tackles in multiple statistical categories, including tackles for loss and quarterback hits. “Cam’s a heck of a player,” said teammate T.J. Watt. “He’s like wine—he gets better with age.”
Watt, despite being named to the Second-Team, continued to dominate on the field. He recorded 11.5 sacks, six forced fumbles, and 19 tackles for loss, solidifying his reputation as one of the league’s most relentless defenders. Watt also reached a career milestone, becoming the second-fastest player in NFL history to record 100 sacks, achieving the feat in 109 games.
“T.J. Watt is a first-ballot Hall of Famer,” said Hall of Fame coach Bill Cowher. “He’s a game-changer and a defensive player of the year candidate every season.” Watt’s performance this year marked his sixth All-Pro selection, further cementing his legacy as one of the Steelers’ all-time greats.
The Steelers’ trio of All-Pro selections highlights the team’s defensive prowess and special teams excellence, setting a strong foundation for future success.
