Stephanie White Hired as New Head Coach of the Indiana Fever
The Indiana Fever have announced the hiring of Stephanie White as their new head coach, according to league sources. White, who spent the past two seasons as the head coach of the Connecticut Sun, brings a wealth of experience and success to the Fever. During her tenure with the Sun, White compiled a 55-25 record and led the team to consecutive semifinals appearances, earning her the WNBA Coach of the Year award in 2023.
White is no stranger to the Indiana Fever, having served on their coaching staff from 2011 to 2016, including two years as the head coach. She was also a member of the Fever’s inaugural roster in 2000 and played for the team for four seasons in the early 2000s. Her familiarity with the franchise and her roots as an Indiana native make her a strong fit for the role.
The Fever are looking to build around a promising young core, led by WNBA star Caitlin Clark and Aliyah Boston, the last two No. 1 overall draft picks. White’s hiring is part of a series of significant changes for the Fever, which include the appointment of Kelly Krauskopf as the new president and Amber Cox as the new COO and GM. The team saw a surge in popularity this season, leading the league in attendance and garnering over a million viewers for games.[
White’s decision to leave the Connecticut Sun was influenced by both professional and personal factors. She expressed the difficulty of being away from her family and felt that the move to the Fever was the best decision for her on both fronts.[
The hiring of White marks one of seven new head coaching appointments in the WNBA for the 2025 season, a record according to the Elias Sports Bureau.[
