Is the Stock Market Open on Black Friday?
The stock market in the United States, including the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), follows a specific schedule that includes holidays and special trading days. On Black Friday, which is the day after Thanksgiving, the stock market operates on a shortened schedule.
Typically, the NYSE and other major U.S. stock exchanges are open on Black Friday but with reduced hours. Instead of the usual 9:30 AM to 4:00 PM Eastern Time trading session, the markets usually close at 1:00 PM Eastern Time on this day.
This shortened trading day allows for some trading activity while also giving market participants a partial day off following the Thanksgiving holiday.
