Colorado Rockies Baseball Game Coors Field

FORT COLLINS, Colo. — A complex storm system that recently swept through the region has been downgraded as it approaches Colorado. The latest forecast from the National Weather Service indicates that the system will move into the state on Thursday and exit by Saturday, potentially delivering snowfall to the mountains and a rain/snow mix to the Fort Collins area and the Interstate 25 corridor.

As the Rockies gear up for their first home game of the season, they will face the Oakland Athletics at Coors Field on Friday, April 4. The game is set to begin at 2:10 p.m. local time. Despite not having a winning record for 2025 following a tough 100-loss season in 2024, the Rockies hope to turn a new leaf in front of their home crowd.

The team’s current situation is somewhat unique as they begin the season at home while rivals like the Tampa Bay Rays are dealing with the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, which has damaged their regular ballpark. The Athletics, who have recently relocated from Oakland, also find themselves in temporary arrangements as they prepare for a planned move to Las Vegas by 2028.

Weather forecasts for the opener suggest a high of around 40 degrees Fahrenheit with light rain and snow possible, and a 60% chance of precipitation according to recent data. Other reports suggest slightly cooler conditions with highs of 39 degrees and a 75% chance of precipitation.

For those unable to attend the game at Coors Field, options to watch or listen are readily available. Fans can catch the game via MLB.TV or ROCKIES.TV, with the annual subscription priced at $99.99, while a monthly plan costs $19.99. A free trial is also offered for new subscribers. Additionally, Fubo, which also offers a free trial, will broadcast the games. Radio audiences can tune into KFKA 101.1 FM/1310 AM in Fort Collins or KOA 850 AM/94.1 FM in Denver to catch the action.

Starting pitcher for the Rockies, Ryan Feltner, who faced the Rays in his last outing on March 31, looks to improve on his performance where he registered a no-decision after allowing two earned runs over five innings. The Athletics will counter with Osvaldo Bido, who secured a win against Seattle on March 29, giving up just one earned run while striking out four in five innings.

The Rockies have laid out an ambitious schedule throughout April and are eager to set the tone with their home opener against the Athletics. Fans are encouraged to follow along for a promising start to the season.
