Storms Return to North Texas with Heavy Rain Forecast

DALLAS, Texas – Rain and storms are back in the forecast for North Texas this week. Meteorologist Evan Andrew predicts scattered showers on Wednesday morning through noon, with another burst of storms expected later in the day, especially to the west and south.
The strongest storms could produce quarter-size hail and winds gusting up to 50 mph. The areas north and east of Dallas will experience fewer showers on Wednesday, keeping temperatures under 80 degrees.
As the weather system moves out, the chance of showers after midnight into Thursday morning will decrease. A cold front will approach from the north on Thursday afternoon, possibly bringing additional showers and storms.
The air is expected to dry out behind the cold front, making Friday quite pleasant with morning clouds gradually giving way to sunshine and highs reaching the low 80s.
Saturday is predicted to be mild and sunny, perfect for ending May, with highs in the mid 80s and light winds. However, a strong weather disturbance is anticipated to approach from the central Plains late Saturday. Though its exact timing is unclear, it may bring a quick burst of storms in the early hours of Sunday.
Sunday afternoon should clear, allowing for sunshine and temperatures in the 80s. As temperatures rise closer to 90 degrees on Monday, the humidity will increase, creating a warm and breezy Tuesday, with slight chances of more storms.
After a rainy Memorial Day, with over two inches of rainfall reported in some areas according to the National Weather Service’s Fort Worth office, North Texas is preparing for more wet weather mid-week.
