Summer Mcintosh Swimming Butterfly Race

Montreal, CanadaSummer McIntosh is on the verge of breaking another world record in swimming as she competes in the Canadian Swimming Trials. On Tuesday, the 18-year-old swimmer clocked a time of 2:02.26 in the 200m butterfly, coming very close to Liu Zige’s world record of 2:01.81, set in 2009.

This week, McIntosh has already made history by setting world records in the 400m individual medley and the 200m individual medley, showcasing her exceptional talent in the sport. Her performance at the trials, which are crucial for qualifying for the 2025 World Aquatics Championships, has captured the attention of the swimming world.

“I actually rate this race higher than my other ones,” McIntosh stated, according to Olympics.com. She expressed her satisfaction with the time, noting that the 200m butterfly world record is particularly challenging to attain. “I was kind of upset with myself with the finish, but I’m happy with the race overall,” she said.

In addition to her butterfly efforts, McIntosh also recorded the third-fastest 800m freestyle in history during the trials and is set to compete in her world record-holding event, the 400m individual medley.

<pIn the 200m butterfly race, she was ahead of Zige's record pace for the first 150m but couldn't maintain it in the final stretch. Despite not breaking the record, McIntosh is encouraged by her performance. “The fact that I’m knocking on the door of that world record is really, really encouraging,” she said. “I think world records are meant to be broken.”
