Sunrisers Hyderabad Ipl Match

Lucknow, India – In a thrilling Indian Premier League match on May 23, 2025, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) overcame Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) by 42 runs at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Stadium.

SRH posted an impressive total of 231 runs for 6 wickets, with Ishan Kishan leading the charge with an unbeaten 94 runs off 48 balls. Abhishek Sharma contributed a quick 34 runs. RCB struggled in their chase, finishing with 189 runs all out in 19.5 overs.

Kishan’s innings featured seven fours and five sixes, showcasing his explosive batting prowess. He played a crucial role in helping SRH reach their formidable score, especially after his teammates faltered. “I saw Abhishek and Travis Head starting the game strong, and I knew we had a good pitch,” Kishan said post-match.

RCB began their innings on a positive note, but collapsed dramatically from 140 runs to 189, losing seven wickets for just 16 runs. Phil Salt scored 62 off 32 balls and Virat Kohli added 43 runs, but it was not enough to secure a win. RCB’s batting woes were emphasized by Pat Cummins, who took 3 wickets for 28 runs and played a pivotal role in the match.

After an early wicket, RCB was positioned well but struggled against SRH’s bowling attack. The turning point came when Nitish Reddy and Lasith Malinga executed crucial deliveries to trigger the collapse of the RCB batting lineup.

RCB captain Jitesh Sharma, who stepped in for injured Rajat Patidar, acknowledged the team’s failure to capitalize on good starts. “We didn’t have the intensity we needed initially,” he remarked. “It’s crucial to analyze our performance and learn from this defeat.”

This match leaves RCB with a difficult road ahead in their quest for a top-two finish in the league, as the defeat affects their net run rate significantly. Meanwhile, SRH’s impressive display sends a strong message ahead of the playoffs.
