Sunrisers Hyderabad Shatters IPL Record with Highest Ever Powerplay Score Against Delhi Capitals
Sunrisers Hyderabad created history in the Indian Premier League 2024 by achieving the highest ever powerplay score against Delhi Capitals at the renowned Delhi venue.
The explosive opening duo of Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma were the architects of this remarkable feat, accumulating a staggering 125 runs in just six overs.
Travis Head, the talented Australian batter, reached a remarkable milestone by registering the fastest half-century of the season off only 16 balls. This equalled his opening partner, Abhishek Sharma’s achievement of scoring 50 runs off 16 balls against Mumbai Indians.
This remarkable powerplay performance by Sunrisers Hyderabad not only set a new record for IPL 2024 but also established a new milestone as the highest powerplay score in the history of the IPL.
Prior to this, the previous highest powerplay score in IPL was 105/0 by Kolkata Knight Riders against Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2017, followed by Chennai Super Kings‘ 100/2 against Punjab Kings in 2014. The significant feat also extended to individual achievements, with Travis Head securing the highest powerplay scores for SRH in IPL with his monumental innings.
Furthermore, after winning the toss, Delhi Capitals chose to bowl first, paving the way for the explosive batting display by Sunrisers Hyderabad. Setting the foundation for the match, Head and Sharma’s aggressive innings propelled SRH to a commanding total of 184/4 in 13 overs.
Amongst the notable performances, Kuldeep Yadav showcased his bowling prowess for Sunrisers Hyderabad by clinching three wickets, supported by Axar Patel‘s contribution with the ball.
