PHOENIX — The Phoenix Suns overcame a 20-point deficit to defeat the Sacramento Kings 120-116 in their season opener at the Mortgage Matchup Center on Wednesday night. The victory marked a successful debut for new head coach Jordan Ott.

Devin Booker led the Suns with 31 points, shooting 10-of-19 from the field while adding five rebounds and three assists. Veteran Dillon Brooks contributed 22 points in his first game with Phoenix, showcasing strong defense against Kings star DeMar DeRozan in the critical moments.

The Kings entered halftime with a commanding 71-54 lead, shooting over 64% from the field. Zach LaVine was a standout performer for Sacramento, scoring 30 points. Despite their offensive woes early, the Suns surged back in the second half, outscoring the Kings 66-45.

Phoenix capitalized on its paint dominance, scoring 64 of its 120 points inside. The Suns also excelled on the boards, winning the rebounding battle 51-37. Key contributions also came from Grayson Allen, who scored 18 points, and Ryan Dunn, who recorded nine points, ten rebounds, and three blocks.

After a slow start, the Suns began to regain their footing in the third quarter, decreasing the deficit to just two points entering the final period. With momentum shifting, Phoenix took the lead for the first time since early in the game with a three-pointer by Royce O’Neale.

As the game tightened, Brooks was fouled on a three-point attempt, hitting all three free throws to put the Suns ahead for good. Ultimately, Phoenix executed well in the closing moments, with Booker sealing the game with crucial free throws.

The Suns will look to build on this victory as they embark on a road trip starting with a game against the Los Angeles Clippers on Friday.
