Super Bowl LIX is set to take place on Sunday, Feb. 9, 2025, at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana, with Kendrick Lamar headlining the halftime show. The game, airing on FOX, will feature the top-seeded Detroit Lions from the NFC and the Kansas City Chiefs from the AFC, both vying for the Vince Lombardi Trophy.

This year’s Super Bowl coincides with Mardi Gras, blending football excitement with Carnival season festivities. However, the celebrations come in the wake of a tragic New Year’s Day attack on Bourbon Street that claimed 14 lives. In response, New Orleans has implemented enhanced security measures, including a review by former New York City police commissioner Bill Bratton and increased federal resources.

New Orleans & Company is building upon our strong partnerships with NOPD, Louisiana State Police as well as other law enforcement agencies, to enhance coverage for upcoming events and meetings and secure additional patrols in heavily visited areas,” said Kelly Schulz, senior vice president of communications and PR for New Orleans & Company.

Caesars Superdome, celebrating its 50th anniversary, has undergone a $560 million renovation, adding Wi-Fi upgrades, new atriums, bars, and enhanced accessibility. Game-day tickets are available on the secondary market for around $6,000, with premium packages starting at nearly $7,000, including pregame parties and hotel stays.

Festivities begin on Feb. 3 with Super Bowl Opening Night at the Superdome, followed by the Super Bowl Experience at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center from Feb. 5 to 8. Additional events include the Big Game Big Give at Mardi Gras World on Feb. 7 and the Super Bowl Host Committee Parade on Feb. 8, featuring Super Bowl-themed floats and marching bands.

For food enthusiasts, the Taste of the NFL event at the National WWII Museum on Feb. 8 will showcase Southern fare from renowned chefs. On game day, the world’s largest tailgate at Mardi Gras World will feature performances by Diplo, Flavor Flav, and local rockers Cowboy Mouth.

New Orleans’ vibrant culture will be on full display throughout the week, with local restaurants and bars offering special menus and events. From Uptown’s Creole tailgate-inspired fare to downtown’s Super Bowl-themed cocktails, the city promises a unique blend of football and Carnival celebrations.
