Swerve Strickland Awaits Chris Bey’s Comeback After Injury

Las Vegas, NV — Swerve Strickland, a prominent figure in All Elite Wrestling (AEW), announced he is eagerly waiting to face fellow wrestler Chris Bey once Bey is cleared to return to the ring. This declaration came during the Benefit for Chris Bey event held by Future Stars of Wrestling on March 23, 2025, in Las Vegas. Strickland, who has been sidelined due to a ruptured eardrum, emphasized his admiration for Bey and expressed a heartfelt desire to make their matchup a reality at Bey’s first appearance back.

Strickland, who hadn’t wrestled since AEW Revolution on March 9, stated, “Chris is a strong competitor, and when he’s ready, I’ll be waiting for him. I want our match to be special.” During the benefit event, he was originally scheduled to face Kenny King but had to cancel due to his injury. Instead, he joined fans in chanting, “Whose House? Bey’s House!” in honor of the recovering wrestler.

Chris Bey is currently rehabilitating from surgery following a neck injury sustained during an October 2024 match. In a February video update, Bey shared his progress by walking again, boosting his fans’ hopes for a speedy recovery. At the same Benefit for Bey event, Strickland praised the theme of unity within the wrestling community as supporters rallied to show their love for Bey.

Joe DeFalco, promoter of Future Stars of Wrestling, expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support shown at the event, which featured numerous wrestlers from various promotions donating their time and talents. “This isn’t just about wrestling; it’s about our community coming together,” DeFalco said.

Notably, Rey Mysterio sent a video message to Bey, conveying his support and well wishes for his recovery. “We’re praying for you, Chris,” Mysterio said, highlighting the bonds formed within the wrestling world.

As for Strickland, he is set to challenge Jon Moxley for the AEW World Championship at the AEW Dynasty event, a matchup he aims to secure after recovering from his own injury. Strickland mentioned, “I can’t wait for the day Chris returns. His spirit is an inspiration, and I want to make our match reflect that energy.”
