The Sydney Sixers have secured a remarkable last-ball victory over the Perth Scorchers, boosting their chances of claiming the coveted KFC BBL finals double-chance. The match, held at Optus Stadium, saw a thrilling finish with the Sixers coming out on top.

After the Scorchers set a formidable target of 197 runs, thanks largely to an outstanding knock of 72 runs off 34 balls by Laurie Evans, the Sixers seemed to be cruising towards victory. However, a sudden collapse of 4 wickets for just 5 runs off 7 balls left them in a precarious position.

It was then that skipper Moises Henriques exhibited nerves of steel and showed great leadership. His unbeaten innings of 47 runs off 20 balls helped the Sixers snatch a remarkable five-wicket win on the last ball of the match.

This victory not only secured a place for the Sixers in the finals but also ensured they would enjoy the double-chance advantage. The second-ranked Sixers will now face the top-of-the-table Brisbane Heat in the Qualifier, while the Scorchers, who slipped to third place, will host the Adelaide Strikers in the Knockout.

Opener Daniel Hughes played a pivotal role in the successful chase, scoring an impressive 74 runs. He received support from teammates Josh Philippe (32 runs) and James Vince (22 runs) as they carefully built the innings.

Despite facing a target of 17 runs in the last two overs with seven wickets in hand, the Sixers faced a tense moment as Jason Behrendorff took three crucial wickets in the penultimate over. However, the cool-headed Henriques finally took control and finished the match in style, hitting 2-6-2-4 off the last four balls to secure victory for his team.

The Scorchers had a late surge in their innings, scoring an impressive 131 runs off the last 10 overs after a slow start. Laurie Evans, in his final game for the season, played an outstanding innings that set the stage for a challenging total.

The next matches for the Sixers and Scorchers will determine their fate in the BBL finals. The Sixers will face the Heat in the Qualifier, while the Scorchers will battle it out against the Strikers in the Knockout.
