Syracuse Vs Miami Basketball Game Highlights

Syracuse, N.Y. — The Syracuse Orange fell to the Miami Hurricanes 91-84 on Tuesday night at the Watsco Center in Coral Gables, Florida, marking one of their most disappointing losses of the season. Despite a strong shooting performance, Syracuse could not keep up with Miami’s scoring prowess.

J.J. Starling led Syracuse with 25 points, while Eddie Lampkin contributed significantly with 22 points, 13 rebounds, and six assists. The Orange shot an impressive 45% from the field, nearly 40% from three-point range, and an almost perfect 94% from the free-throw line—areas where they had previously struggled.

Miami, however, was led by senior Matthew Cleveland, who scored a career-high 32 points. Cleveland set the offensive tone early for the Hurricanes, scoring 15 points by halftime. Miami’s shooting stats were equally impressive, as the team shot over 50% from the field and from three-point range in the first half.

Freshman Jalil Bethea also made an impact for Miami, adding 21 points to the total. The Hurricanes improved their record to 6-18, with only two wins in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC).

The loss is particularly disappointing for Syracuse (11-13, 5-8 ACC) as it comes against a Miami team that has struggled throughout the season, entering the game with just five wins. Syracuse held a significant lead in the all-time series against Miami at 21-12, including a close victory last season (72-69) at home.

Despite their previous win against Boston College in a triple overtime thriller, the Orange could not deliver against the Hurricanes. Coach Jim Boeheim emphasized the need for defensive stops, stating, “Whoever wins will be the team that strings together stops down the stretch.”

The game saw multiple lead changes in the second half, with both teams trading baskets. Starling managed to narrow Miami’s lead to five points late in the game but was unable to close the gap as Miami maintained its offensive momentum.

As Syracuse looks ahead, they remain eager to capitalize on upcoming games against weaker opponents to secure their standings within the ACC. They have seven games left on their schedule, and a victory would have greatly enhanced their chances of making a favorable run in the upcoming conference tournament.
