Syracuse Lacrosse Faces Notre Dame in ACC Semifinals

CHARLOTTE, North Carolina — The fourth-seeded Syracuse Orange men’s lacrosse team is set to clash with top-seeded Notre Dame on Friday, May 2, 2025, in the semifinal round of the ACC Men’s Lacrosse Tournament. The match will take place at American Legion Memorial Stadium, beginning at 5 p.m. ET and will be broadcast on the ACC Network.
Syracuse enters the tournament with a regular season record of 9-5 and faced a tough 14-12 loss against No. 8 North Carolina in their final game. Despite the loss, the Orange showed resilience by outscoring the Tar Heels 5-4 in the fourth quarter. Players Joey Spallina and Sam English each tallied five points in that game, with English netting three goals.
This matchup will be the 23rd meeting between Syracuse and Notre Dame since their series began in 2001. Syracuse won their last encounter against Notre Dame 14-9 earlier in April, marking a significant victory as the Orange had lost their previous seven games against the Fighting Irish dating back to 2019.
Notre Dame, sporting an 8-3 record, aims to bounce back after a 10-8 win over Penn in their last outing. They will be looking to advance to the ACC Championship game for a chance to secure an automatic qualifier for the NCAA Tournament, although the ACC does not automatically qualify teams.
The winner of this semifinal will advance to the championship game on Sunday, May 4, at noon. This matchup serves as critical for both teams, as they aim for not only tournament success but for qualifications in the wider NCAA landscape.
Fans can tune in via the ACC Network or stream the game live through various services. With a competitive atmosphere set to unfold at American Legion Memorial Stadium, both teams are eager to secure their spot in the final.
