The Lightning, entering this matchup with a solid 6-0-1 record against Seattle in their all-time series, have the momentum from their previous encounter against the Kraken on December 14, where they scored a decisive 5-1 victory. In that game, Seattle initially took the lead with a power-play goal, but Tampa Bay answered back with goals from Brandon Hagel and Brayden Point before the first period ended.
Jake Guentzel added a power-play goal in the third period, and Hagel sealed the game with another goal into an empty net. Declan Carlile also scored his first NHL goal in the closing moments of the game. Hagel led the Lightning with two goals and an assist, while Guentzel and Point each contributed a goal and an assist.
Tampa Bay’s goaltending has been a strong point in their success against the Kraken. Starter Andrei Vasilevskiy holds a perfect 5-0-0 record against Seattle, boasting an impressive .947 save percentage. His compatriot Jonas Johansson, who performed well in the previous meeting, has a record of 1-0-1 with a .923 save percentage.
In terms of individual performance, Nikita Kucherov stands out as the Lightning’s leading scorer against Seattle with 10 points (3 goals, 7 assists) in six games. Following him is Brandon Hagel, who has recorded 9 points (4 goals, 5 assists) in five games against the Kraken.
The Lightning also have exciting promotional events this week, including the Wild Collective launch which celebrates women in sports. The full collection will be available at AMALIE Arena and online while supplies last.
Looking ahead, the Lightning will continue their season with games against the Edmonton Oilers on February 25, the Calgary Flames on February 27, and a road matchup against the Washington Capitals on March 1.
