Tamworth FC Makes Historic FA Cup Run and Secures Promotion to National League
Tamworth Football Club, based in Tamworth, Staffordshire, England, has been making significant waves in English football. Recently, the club achieved a notable victory in the FA Cup, defeating League One side Huddersfield Town in the first round of the 2024-25 season. This win is a highlight in their current campaign, which has seen them rise through the ranks of English non-League football.
In the 2022-23 season, Tamworth secured the Southern League Premier Division Central title, winning the division on goal difference. This success was followed by another promotion in the 2023-24 season, as they won the National League North title with two games remaining. These back-to-back promotions have propelled Tamworth into the National League, the fifth level of the English football league system, for the 2024-25 season.
The club’s history is marked by several notable achievements, including winning the FA Vase in 1989 and reaching the final of the FA Trophy in 2003. Tamworth has also experienced periods of relegation but has consistently shown resilience and a capacity for resurgence.
As the FA Cup third round draw approaches, Tamworth FC captain Ben Milnes has expressed his hopes for a dream tie, adding to the excitement and anticipation surrounding the club’s continued participation in the competition.
