Taskin Ahmed Expresses Aspiration To Lead Bangladesh Cricket Team

Bangladesh fast bowler Taskin Ahmed has revealed his ambition to take charge of the national cricket team in the future. In recent times, Najmul Hossain Shanto has assumed the captaincy role for Bangladesh in the absence of Shakib Al Hasan. However, Taskin expressed his own long-term aspirations, stating that he wants to approach it step by step.

Speaking about his dreams of leading Bangladesh, Taskin said, ‘Yes, of course. Why not, every player has a dream. Everything will happen step by step.’ Taskin emphasized the importance of patience and gradual progress in achieving one’s goals.

Prior to the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2024, Taskin was appointed vice-captain of the Durdanto Dhaka team, under the captaincy of Mosaddek Hossain Saikat. Taskin highlighted the responsibility both he and Mosaddek bear in leading their team to success in the tournament.

Talking about the team’s composition, Taskin mentioned, ‘Our team is very young. There is Sujon sir, there is Mosaddek, I am also there, there are many other experienced cricketers. Maybe due to availability problems, many foreign cricketers arrive late, some are not available at the right time. If we can organize the team that we have and play with unity, it will definitely be good.’

Durdanto Dhaka made an impressive start to their BPL campaign, securing a five-wicket victory over defending champions Comilla Victorians at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka.
