HOBART, Australia — The Tasmania JackJumpers have secured rising talent Archie Woodhill for another season, extending his contract through the end of the NBL27 season. The announcement comes as the team prepares for a crucial matchup against the South East Melbourne Phoenix this weekend.

Woodhill, a Development Player, initially joined the JackJumpers during the off-season and has quickly made an impact, stepping up in the absence of key players. His performance has earned the confidence of the coaching staff, who see a bright future for the young athlete.

“We have been really pleased with Archie’s development over his time with us this season. This contract demonstrates our confidence in him to continue his current trajectory, and we are excited with what the future holds for him as a JackJumper,” said Darren Smith, Chief Operating Officer of the Tasmania JackJumpers.

Woodhill expressed his enthusiasm for the extension, stating, “Very excited for the next two years; it has been an amazing opportunity being part of the JackJumper family so far.”

The JackJumpers, currently sixth in the NBL standings with a 12-13 record, face a challenging game against the fifth-ranked South East Melbourne Phoenix (14-11) on Saturday at the State Basketball Centre. Both teams are vying for a spot in the top four as the season approaches its climax.

Phoenix coach Josh King acknowledged the importance of the upcoming game, emphasizing the need for his team to bounce back after a recent 11-point loss to the Sydney Kings. “Each game from now on is pivotal for the Phoenix to have a chance to make the top-four heading into the post-season,” King said.

Despite injury setbacks, including the absence of key players Will Magnay and Majok Deng, the JackJumpers have shown resilience. They put up a strong fight in their last game against the Kings, narrowly losing by 11 points.
