TCU Faces Colorado in Big 12 Tournament Opener

Kansas City, MO — The TCU Horned Frogs will take on the Colorado Buffaloes in the first round of the 2025 Big 12 Championship on Tuesday, March 11, at T-Mobile Center. The matchup begins at 3 p.m. ET and will be broadcast on ESPN+.
TCU enters the tournament as the No. 9 seed with a record of 16-15, including a 9-11 mark in conference play. The Horned Frogs will look to secure a place in the NCAA Tournament by clinching a victory against the 12th-seeded Buffaloes, who have struggled this season with a record of 12-19 and a 3-17 conference standing.
The Big 12 Championship, featuring 16 competing teams, will run from March 11 to March 15. Defending champion Iowa State seeks to repeat after winning last year’s title against Houston. Houston has been named the top seed for this year’s tournament.
TCU’s head coach emphasized the importance of this game during a recent press conference, stating, “Every game in the tournament is a chance to showcase our team. We’re focused on one game at a time and know what’s at stake.”
Fans can expect a competitive atmosphere at T-Mobile Center, where attendance is anticipated to be around 6,406. For both teams, the game marks a critical opportunity for a stronger postseason resume.
In their last matchup, TCU outperformed Colorado, showcasing a more robust offensive strategy, finishing the game with a field goal percentage of 41% compared to Colorado’s 37.9%. Additionally, TCU’s three-point proficiency, hitting 40.9% of their attempts, could be a deciding factor in the highly anticipated game.
Coach’s strategy leading into the tournament reflects a strong focus on defense and rebounding. The Horned Frogs averaged 34 rebounds per game, while the Buffaloes averaged slightly less at 34. They aim to capitalize on their size and depth to navigate through tough tournament conditions.
As the tournament progresses, teams will face off with the hopes of advancing to the championship on March 15, where both the glory of victory and the agony of defeat will undoubtedly be on display.
