Sedona Prince Tcu Basketball Player Allegations

FORT WORTH, TexasTCU center Sedona Prince, a prominent women’s college basketball player and social media figure, is facing new allegations of abuse. The latest incident, involving a reported assault against a former girlfriend, allegedly occurred last month, according to the Washington Post.

On January 18, a TCU student approached the Fort Worth police to report that Prince had assaulted her and reportedly asked her to sign a nondisclosure agreement. In a counterreport, Prince claimed she was also assaulted, revealing that she suffered a black eye. As of now, no criminal charges have been filed in relation to the allegations.

Through her attorney, A. Boone Almanza, Prince has vehemently denied the allegations, stating, “I have never abused anyone in my life, whether mentally, emotionally or physically.” Almanza criticized the motives of those making allegations against Prince, suggesting that some are using her fame as a platform to further their careers.

“Unfortunately, others have decided to use Sedona as a launch point for their careers,” Almanza told the Washington Post. He elaborated that Prince has simply wished for her personal life, including intimate relationships, to remain private, hence the request for partners to sign nondisclosure agreements.

In a statement regarding the accusations, TCU acknowledged the ongoing situation involving one of its athletes, stating, “The university is aware of the allegations involving one of our student-athletes and is looking into the matter. In accordance with federal privacy laws, the university does not comment on student conduct matters.” The status of Prince’s standing with the university and its basketball team remains unclear.

The current allegations are not the first faced by Prince. In 2019, a sexual misconduct lawsuit against her was dismissed months after it was filed. Additionally, another woman accused Prince of abusive behavior during a trip to Mexico, sharing text message screenshots with the Washington Post. These past allegations have gained significant traction online, with a change.org petition calling for action against her currently boasting over 200,000 signatures.

On the court, Prince has been a key player for the Horned Frogs this season, averaging 17.6 points, nine rebounds, and 3.2 blocks. Off the court, she is recognized for her advocacy in women’s sports, notably making waves during the 2021 NCAA Tournament with a viral TikTok video that called for equitable treatment for female athletes compared to males. Furthermore, she has served as a plaintiff in two lawsuits challenging the NCAA’s policies.
