The United States scored its first medal of the Paris 2024 Olympics with a fantastic performance from divers Sarah Bacon and Kassidy Cook. The duo clinched a silver medal in the synchronized 3-meter springboard event held at the Aquatics Center in Saint-Denis, just north of Paris.

This achievement is especially significant as it marks the first time the U.S. has medalled in this particular event since 2012. Both Bacon and Cook were thrilled with their accomplishment, and rightfully so!

In the competition, it was China’s Chang Yani and Chen Yiwen who took home the gold, showcasing their skill and precision. The bronze medal went to the British pair of Scarlett Mew Jensen and Yasmin Harper, rounding out the top three.

This Olympic outing is a milestone for Bacon, who is making her debut, while Cook has some experience under her belt, having previously competed in the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio, where she finished 13th in the women’s 3-meter springboard.

With this silver medal, Team USA seems poised for what could be a record-breaking haul of medals as the games continue.
