Tekashi 6ix9ine Demi Lovato Podcast

LOS ANGELES, CA — Controversial rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine, whose real name is Daniel Hernandez, has sparked outrage after making remarks about singer Demi Lovato‘s sobriety during a podcast appearance. On the November 11 episode of Andie Elle‘s podcast, 6ix9ine suggested that Lovato would eventually relapse, despite her well-documented recovery path.

During a discussion about former child stars and their struggles with substance abuse, 6ix9ine jokingly offered to send Lovato drugs to facilitate a relapse. ‘She’s gonna relapse. Let’s send her a gift. Let’s send her some [censored],’ he said, referencing Lovato’s past struggles with drugs.

Demi Lovato, who nearly died from a heroin overdose in 2018, has been open about her addiction journey. In her 2021 documentary series, ‘Dancing With the Devil,’ she revealed the severe consequences of her overdose, which included having three strokes and a heart attack.

Lovato has worked hard to maintain her sobriety and inspire others facing similar battles. Her openness about her experiences has made her a prominent advocate for mental health and addiction recovery.

After 6ix9ine’s insensitive remarks went viral, social media users quickly came to Lovato’s defense. Many criticized his comment, describing it as cruel and out of touch with the realities of addiction. Tweets included reactions like, ‘How can he joke about someone else’s healing? This is embarrassing,’ and ‘Why would you wish someone else’s downfall?’

In response to the backlash, 6ix9ine later told TMZ that his comments were meant as ‘dark humor’ and lamented that today’s generation is ‘overly sensitive’ about such topics. Despite his intentions, critics assert that making jokes about someone’s sobriety crosses an important line, especially for those with a history of addiction.

As the public discourse continues, Demi Lovato has yet to comment on 6ix9ine’s remarks. However, the incident has reignited discussions about accountability in the entertainment industry and the impact of words on those recovering from addiction.
