Tennessee Titans Struggle as Tyler Lockett’s Production Declines
Nashville, Tennessee – The Tennessee Titans signed veteran wide receiver Tyler Lockett to a one-year contract before the 2025 NFL Draft, hoping he would add experience and production to their offense.
However, Lockett has struggled significantly, recording only eight receptions for 52 receiving yards in six games this season. He has had one or fewer catches in four games, raising concerns about his effectiveness.
Originally brought in to play as a slot receiver in Brian Callahan‘s 11 personnel offense, Lockett’s role has diminished. Recent game stats reveal a troubling trend. In Week 5, his snap count dropped from 36 to just 17, as he was out-snapped by rookie receiver Chimere Dike, who played 33 snaps.
This decline continued in Week 6 during an embarrassing loss to the Las Vegas Raiders, where Lockett played only 20 snaps compared to Dike’s 34. These statistics suggest the Titans’ coaching staff, including Mike McCoy, is losing faith in Lockett’s abilities.
Fortunately for the Titans, Lockett’s one-year contract means they are not bound to him beyond this season. With the team sitting at 1-5, many believe it may be time to consider benching the 33-year-old receiver permanently.
The lack of recent usage indicates the Titans may already be recognizing that keeping Lockett on the field offers little benefit to the team’s offensive strategy moving forward.
