Texans Activate Cornerback Jeff Okudah and Defensive Tackle Mario Edwards Jr. for Monday’s Game
The Houston Texans have made several key roster moves ahead of their Monday night game against the Dallas Cowboys. Cornerback Jeff Okudah, who was the No. 3 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, has been activated from injured reserve. Okudah had been sidelined due to a quad injury since Week 1, where he participated in just five special teams snaps. However, he was a full participant in practice all week, indicating his readiness to return to the field.
In addition to Okudah’s activation, defensive tackle Mario Edwards Jr. has also been reinstated to the active roster after serving a four-game suspension for violating the NFL’s substances of abuse policy. Edwards has recorded 2.0 sacks in six games this season and is expected to bolster the Texans’ defensive line.
To make room on the 53-man roster, the Texans waived cornerback Myles Bryant and running back J.J. Taylor. Furthermore, defensive tackle Tommy Togiai has been elevated from the practice squad to the active roster for Monday’s game.
Okudah’s return is significant, given his promising start in the NFL. He earned All-American honors during his time at Ohio State before being drafted by the Detroit Lions. His activation could provide a boost to the Texans’ secondary as they face off against the Cowboys.
