Houston Texans Vs Los Angeles Chargers 2025 Afc Wild Card

The Houston Texans secured a commanding 20-6 victory over the Los Angeles Chargers in the AFC Wild Card playoff game on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at NRG Stadium. The Texans’ defense stole the show, forcing three turnovers, including a pivotal 38-yard pick-six by safety Eric Murray in the third quarter.

Murray’s interception of Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert marked the first pick-six of his career and extended Houston’s lead to 20-6. Herbert, who entered the game with only three interceptions during the regular season, struggled under pressure, throwing two interceptions and completing just 10 of 24 passes for 118 yards.

The Texans’ defense was relentless, sacking Herbert multiple times and limiting the Chargers’ offense to just two field goals. Houston’s rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud managed the game effectively, relying on a balanced attack that included key contributions from running back Joe Mixon and wide receiver Nico Collins.

Chargers wide receiver Ladd McConkey provided a bright spot for Los Angeles, finishing with eight catches for 188 yards and an 86-yard touchdown. However, his efforts were not enough to overcome the Texans’ defensive dominance.

With the win, the Texans advance to the next round of the playoffs, while the Chargers’ season comes to an end. Houston’s defense, led by standout performances from Murray and cornerback Derek Stingley Jr., proved to be the difference-maker in a game that showcased the importance of turnovers in playoff football.
