Texans Part Ways with President Despite Back-to-Back AFC South Titles
HOUSTON, Texas — In a surprising development, the Houston Texans announced Thursday they have amicably parted ways with team president Greg Grissom, despite the team’s recent success, including back-to-back AFC South division titles and consecutive playoff victories.
“We want to thank Greg for his contributions to the organization,” Texans CEO Cal McNair said in a statement. “Since he became our team president in 2021, Greg helped me implement numerous initiatives to help our organization fearlessly evolve and grow in many ways, which we are thankful for. We wish Greg and his family nothing but the best in the future.”
Grissom, who had been with the franchise for nearly 25 years, including the last four as team president, oversaw the team’s management and direction of business operations. In a statement, Grissom expressed gratitude for his time with the Texans and optimism for the future. “Over the past four years, I am incredibly proud of what we accomplished for our fans and our business,” he said. “I am grateful for my time with the Texans and look forward to what’s next.”
Under Grissom’s leadership, the Texans transformed into one of the NFL‘s upper-echelon teams. After winning just seven games during his first two years as president, the team won 22 games over the past two seasons, including a 32-12 victory in the AFC wild-card game earlier this month.
The Texans are expected to move quickly to find Grissom’s successor, with the start of free agency less than two months away. McNair stated that updates regarding the team’s next president will be provided in the coming days.
