Texans’ Woods Active for Divisional Round Despite Injury Concerns
HOUSTON, Texas — Texans wide receiver Robert Woods, who was questionable with a hip injury, is officially active for Sunday’s Divisional Round playoff game against the Kansas City Chiefs. Woods did not participate in any practice sessions during the week, raising concerns about his availability.
The veteran receiver’s presence provides quarterback C.J. Stroud with an additional weapon in the passing game as Houston faces a formidable Kansas City defense. Woods, who joined the Texans this season, has been a reliable target, recording 40 receptions for 426 yards and one touchdown during the regular season.
“Robert’s experience and toughness are invaluable,” Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans said in a pre-game press conference. “He’s battled through injuries before, and we trust him to step up when it matters most.”
Woods’ status had been closely monitored throughout the week, with the team listing him as questionable on the final injury report. His activation suggests he has made significant progress in his recovery, though his snap count may be managed carefully.
The Texans are entering their first Divisional Round appearance since the 2019 season, and Woods’ availability could be crucial in their quest to upset the defending Super Bowl champions. Kansas City’s defense, ranked second in the NFL during the regular season, will pose a significant challenge for Houston’s offense.
Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. EST at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri.
