Steve Sarkisian Texas Longhorns Coach Nfl

AUSTIN, Texas — Texas Longhorns head coach Steve Sarkisian is reportedly considering opportunities in the NFL as he prepares for Saturday’s road game. According to reports, Sarkisian’s representatives have informed NFL teams that he is open to potential head coaching positions, including the Tennessee Titans.

The news was shared by NFL Insider Dianna Russini on Saturday morning, ahead of Texas’ matchup. “I’m told that representatives for Texas coach Steve Sarkisian have let NFL decision makers know that he would be interested in potential head coaching openings, including the Titans,” Russini wrote.

Sarkisian, who has led Texas to a 42-19 record since his arrival in 2021, has helped the program regain national relevance with two College Football Playoff semifinal appearances. However, this season has had its challenges, as Texas currently sits at 5-2 following losses to Ohio State and Florida.

If Sarkisian were to join the Titans, he would bring his NFL experience from his time as a quarterbacks coach with the Oakland Raiders and as an offensive coordinator for the Atlanta Falcons. He would also work with rookie quarterback Cam Ward, the first overall pick in the upcoming draft.

The Titans recently fired head coach Brian Callahan after a disappointing 4-19 record. Despite Sarkisian’s ongoing contract with Texas, which extends through 2031 and includes a significant salary increase, the potential for NBA opportunities could prompt a shift in the coaching landscape.

While Sarkisian’s interest in the NFL remains speculative, his departure could have far-reaching effects on both college and professional football. The Longhorns remain in contention for the College Football Playoff, and any coaching changes could further impact the upcoming season.
