Texas Tech Falls to TCU in Close Matchup, 69-66

FORT WORTH, Texas — Texas Tech fell to TCU in a nail-biting finish on Tuesday night, losing 69-66. The Red Raiders struggled to maintain their lead late in the game, marking their second road loss this season.
The game saw Texas Tech positioned ahead 63-62 with just over four minutes remaining, but they were ultimately outscored 7-3 in the closing stretch. Darrion Williams led the Red Raiders with 21 points and five assists, while teammates Chance McMillian and JT Toppin added 19 and 14 points, respectively.
On the opposing side, TCU’s performance was bolstered by Trazarien White and Noah Reynolds, who each contributed 16 points. Ernest Udeh Jr. chipped in with 11 points, fortifying TCU’s comeback efforts.
In an intense final minute of play, TCU led 66-63 with 39.4 seconds left in the game. The Red Raiders struggled to capitalize on possession opportunities as time dwindled. Coach Grant McCasland called for a quick timeout after witnessing a pair of disappointing possessions that resulted in missed opportunities for Texas Tech.
Early in the match, Texas Tech appeared to find its rhythm, taking a swift 7-0 lead. However, they faced mounting pressure from TCU, leading to a series of turnovers that disrupted their momentum. By halftime, TCU held a 36-28 advantage, capitalizing on Texas Tech’s eight turnovers and seven offensive rebounds.
The Red Raiders were able to rise back into contention, displaying an 8-0 run in the second half that brought them back to a 57-54 lead. But TCU’s resilience ultimately prevailed, pushing them past Texas Tech in a tightly contested game.
The next challenge for Texas Tech is to regroup and shift focus as they prepare for their upcoming matchups while TCU looks to build on this momentum.
