St. Thomas Tommies Face N. Dak. State Bison in Summit League Showdown
ST. PAUL, Minn. — The St. Thomas Tommies and North Dakota State Bison will clash in a pivotal Summit League basketball game at 4:00 p.m. ET on Sunday at Schoenecker Arena. Both teams enter the matchup with identical 4-4 records against each other since January 2022, setting the stage for a highly competitive contest.
The Bison, coming off a 72-62 loss to South Dakota State on Thursday, saw their five-game winning streak snapped. The team struggled offensively, recording only eight assists, their lowest since March 2024. Meanwhile, the Tommies secured an 86-71 victory over Oral Roberts on Wednesday, extending their home winning streak to 14 games dating back to last season.
North Dakota State (16-6) has been a formidable force from beyond the arc this season, averaging 12 three-pointers per game. St. Thomas (17-6) isn’t far behind, averaging 10.7 threes per game. The clash of these strengths could be a deciding factor in Sunday’s game.
St. Thomas enters as a slight 1.5-point favorite, according to oddsmakers. The over/under is set at 155.5 points. The Tommies have been favored in their last seven games, going 4-3 against the spread during that stretch.
“Both teams have shown they can dominate from deep, but it’s going to come down to execution and defense,” said a sports analyst from SportsLine. “St. Thomas has the home-court advantage, but North Dakota State is hungry to bounce back.”
This game marks the eighth consecutive time St. Thomas has been favored, while North Dakota State looks to prove they can overcome adversity after their recent loss. With both teams tied in their recent head-to-head matchups, Sunday’s game could tip the scales in favor of one program.
