As cricket season resumes in India, there is growing speculation around Indian Premier League (IPL) prospects, especially concerning the upcoming 2025 mega auction. One player who has notably captured attention is Akash Deep, whose recent performances have impressed both fans and franchise scouts alike.

In the ongoing domestic circuit, which includes the highly competitive Duleep Trophy 2024, Akash Deep’s bowling prowess has been on display. Additionally, he is currently part of the Indian team facing Bangladesh in a Test match at Chennai’s M.A. Chidambaram Stadium, where the 27-year-old bowler has showcased his lethal yorkers, capturing two wickets in two consecutive balls during Bangladesh’s first innings. His performance has sparked discussions about his potential high demand in the 2025 IPL auction.

Among the franchises reportedly considering targeting Akash Deep is the Delhi Capitals (DC). The team is keen on reinforcing their pace attack with a fast bowler known for delivering accurate yorkers, which is a skill that Akash possesses. With substantial experience in domestic cricket, he could be a valuable addition to Delhi’s squad, addressing their long-standing need for such a bowler.

Similarly, Punjab Kings are also expected to shuffle their team composition ahead of IPL 2025. The franchise currently boasts left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh and is likely to retain him. Acquiring Akash Deep would complement Arshdeep Singh, potentially strengthening Punjab’s pace attack and enhancing their chances of capturing their first IPL title.

Mumbai Indians are another franchise contemplating changes to their bowling lineup. It is anticipated that Mumbai may retain only Jasprit Bumrah as their primary fast bowler. This strategic approach opens up opportunities for acquiring other accomplished pacers like Akash Deep. His partnership with Bumrah could be formidable, posing significant challenges to opposition batsmen, and aligning him with a storied franchise like Mumbai Indians could be a promising move for Akash’s career.
