Thunder Dominate Grizzlies in Record Playoff Victory

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK — The Oklahoma City Thunder opened their 2025 playoff run with an impressive 131-80 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies in Game 1 of their Western Conference playoff series on Sunday.
The win marked the fifth-biggest margin in NBA postseason history, with Oklahoma City finishing 51 points ahead of Memphis. This victory is the largest Game 1 win in the history of NBA playoffs.
Oklahoma City saw standout performances from several players, including Aaron Wiggins, who led the team with 21 points, thanks to four 3-pointers. Jalen Williams contributed 20 points and six assists, while Chet Holmgren recorded 19 points along with 10 rebounds.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, the league’s scoring champion with an average of nearly 33 points per game, was held to just 15 points on 4-for-13 shooting, but he praised his teammates for their performance. “I have a great group of guys around me, and I know that,” Gilgeous-Alexander said. “They obviously played amazing.”
Oklahoma City dominated the game, outscoring Memphis in key areas such as points in the paint (60-48), transition points (27-5), and bench points (51-44). They also registered more assists (37) than Memphis had made field goals (32).
The Thunder established control early, leading by as many as 56 points, with their defense forcing the Grizzlies into five turnovers in the first quarter. Oklahoma City led 32-20 after the first 12 minutes before extending their advantage to 68-36 by halftime.
Despite this blowout victory, the Thunder are focused on the next game. Game 2 is set for Tuesday, April 22, at 6:30 p.m. CST.
